BUILDING CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS
On Saw Mill Road

Spring 2009

After a cold March and early April, warmer days are finally appearing, lifting the spirits of all the volunteers.  The Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association, Local 38 turned out in full force in March to hang the ductwork for our HVAC system.

Stephen M. Quaranto, President & Business Manager of Local 38, was on hand to survey the work with Basia Pontello, our construction coordinator.

D&B
In late March, Board President Paul P. Dinto met with architect John Doyle to view the progress; the two are shown with the last significant snowfall of the year.

On Good Friday, April 10th, the parking lot was filled with the trucks of 38 electricians from Paul Dinto Electrical Contractors, Inc.  It was just one in a series of days that the Dinto workers volunteered their time to pull the wires through the building, a massive effort.  They drove in from all corners of Connecticut to participate.  Student volunteer Tyler D’Anthony from Oakville, CT assisted the electricians as a helper on the project. On Saturday, April 18, many were back to volunteer again to push the work to completion.  Dinto engineer and Project Executive Charlie O’Neill coordinated the electrical team, along with several Dinto supervisors, including Perry Simone, General Foreman on the project.  Some of the volunteers are pictured.

We await plumbing and drywall, but like Spring, it is just around the corner.

Pamela Piccini of RVP Flooring Systems in Carmel, NY, is donating the flooring for Nancy’s Clubhouse, the Crystal Art Therapy Room and the media room on the lower level.  She is working with volunteer lead interior designer Susan Chabot of Country Lane Interiors on coordinating the materials.  Nice collaboration, ladies!

Great News from Simon Johnson of Northeast Cabinet Design in Ridgefield!  Canadian cabinet manufacturer CABICO will be participating in our project, donating the cabinets, while Simon’s group is contributing the layout and design work and installation.  Welcome to Connecticut, our Canadian friends – you are making this an international community project!

We welcome inquiries about donated materials and labor to complete this labor of love!  We still need important help with the sewer system and the parking lot.
In the current economy, all gifts are remarkable and are truly appreciated.  We have a number of windows to be sponsored, from $1,000 up.  Soon we will have bricks available to personalize for paved areas.
