Cindy Corn, MSW, LCSW
After a cancer diagnosis in 2005, Cindy Corn joined a support group at Ann's Place where she has been actively involved ever since. In 2008, she began facilitating the Parents Group, which supports parents when there is cancer in the family.
"Our group is unique at Ann's Place because our members are younger,” said Cindy. “They are forced to face their future with a cancer diagnosis before they have had a chance to fully actualize the dreams and expectations they had for their lives. They feel isolated from their contemporaries. We give them a voice to share feelings and ideas with others who understand this. They help one another to navigate their way through their illness."
Cindy is a social worker with the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County. She did both her undergraduate and graduate work at Boston University, graduating with a Masters in Social Work. She has worked in mental health facilities both in Massachusetts and New York, and received extensive training working with people who have experienced trauma. She was competitively selected and attended a three day training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for working with people with cancer.
When seeking renewal and a change of pace, Cindy enjoys spending time at her vacation home on Cape Cod, as well as making visits to New York City. Cindy enjoys the solitude and peacefulness of the Cape, and the dynamism and energy of time spent in New York, with all of the cultural offerings.
