On Saturday, October 17, Ann’s Place clients participated in daylong fall retreat. Su Murdock, LCSW-OSW, Suz Brooks, Psy. D, and Kevin Berrill, LCSW led clients in a retreat focusing on the theme of listening deeply. “So many of us are extremely busy; our lives are velocitized,” said Su. “The retreat day offered an opportunity for participants to enjoy some quiet, to unplug from the intensity of their lives, and to tune in to season of autumn with its call to let go and listen. Our facilitation included guided mindfulness meditation, reading and recitation of poetry, and dialogue on matters of the heart, including such questions as ‘What do I need to listen to in my life right now?” and “How can I be more present to myself and others?’” At the beginning and the end of the retreat, participants reflected on the poem below, by Macrina Wiederkehr. Ann’s Place offers retreats for clients once or twice a year.
