Celebrating the life of John farnham

John Farnham

John Farnham

John Farnham, a true champion for our Ann’s Place Community, peacefully slipped out of this world on July 19th.

John was a beloved and pivotal figure in the construction of Ann’s Place. He was a consensus builder and a facilitator in securing both donations and a volunteer labor force during the worst recession of recent years.

John retired as Executive Director of the Associated General Contractors of Connecticut in 2009 after leading the state organization for 18 years, but he began working with Ann’s Place in 2006 and saw our building through to its completion at the end of 2011.

His professional accomplishments were numerous and far reaching. Beyond serving as a catalyst for our cancer center project, John was a gentle giant in the construction trades industry, supporting job growth, training and education. He helped develop a Labor-Management Coalition within the commercial construction industry.

John looked to future generations of leaders by forming the Young Contractors Forum.

He served on state, national, and international boards, a long way from his St. Louis childhood where he excelled in music and athletics.

John was a friend to all, especially adept at helping people reach solutions, harmony, and results.

It was a rare privilege to work with John and to welcome him and his wife Jan Edmondson into our completed building.  He was especially happy to see the dream realized and know it would be so well used.
