Ann’s Place held a presentation entitled “Latest Trends in the Treatment of Colorectal Cancer” on March 29th in honor of Colorectal Cancer Awareness month.  There were four experts with different backgrounds who came to speak about Colorectal cancer from different perspectives.  The panel included a Medical Oncologist, a Gastroenterologist, a Genetic counselor and a Colon Cancer survivor.  The topics covered were the importance of prevention and screening, the types of treatments available now, and what treatments we can hope to see in the future.  The Genetic counselor spoke about the role of genes in determining one’s risk for developing Colorectal cancer.  The Colon Cancer survivor shared his experience of diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.  This program was well attended and followed by a lively question and answer period.
