The approach will be welcoming, gentle, and personalized for each individual’s needs. The exercises are adaptations of traditional yoga poses which, in this case, are designed to gently and safely promote circulation, respiration, muscle tone, joint mobility, energy levels and healthy organ function.  The combination of breath and movement calms the nervous system, so you will feel relaxed and present, better able to ride the tides of the physical, mental, and emotional demands that come with cancer treatment.

Why do we write memoirs? To recall and preserve memories, to pass forward a personal message, or family history, or a story about an experience or achievement. To remember who loved us and who we loved in return. As a memoirist, or aspiring memoirist, first and foremost our job is to remember, to write or offer an oral memory. We needn’t be our own editors or critics. It’s not about structure, grammar, spelling, or cleverness. It’s about reflecting, receiving, resounding, and simply enjoying. Come and listen and participate when ready.

A unique breathwork class designed to harness the power of your own breath to strengthen your immune system and melt away stress. In this class, we blend ancient yoga practices with modern health-boosting breathing techniques to create a holistic experience that leaves you feeling refreshed, resilient, and deeply relaxed. The class is built on the understanding that the way we breathe directly impacts our physical and mental well-being. Chronic stress, health challenges, shallow breathing, and a hectic lifestyle can all compromise our immune system and leave us vulnerable to illness. By learning to consciously control and deepen our breath, we can: activate Parasympathetic Nervous System, enhance oxygenation, boost circulation, release emotional and physical tension

The core of the class is dedicated to a series of guided breathing exercises The class will culminate in a guided relaxation or meditation, allowing you to fully integrate the benefits of the breathwork. You'll leave feeling grounded, peaceful, and empowered with tools you can use in your daily life to manage stress and support your health.

Chair Yoga

Days: Every Tuesday
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Place: In-Person at Ann’s Place and Virtually by Zoom

Facilitator: Julie Shaw, MEd, Certified Yoga Therapist, Teacher, Author, and survivor. This class is intended specifically for those who are in- or recovering from- cancer treatment. The approach will be welcoming, gentle, and personalized for each individual’s needs. Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair or standing using a chair for support, if needed.

To Register: Email: clientservices@annsplace.org or Call 203-790-6568 x109. Registration required as space is limited.
